A TEENAGER who broke an old school friend's nose in a sudden bust-up has avoided going to jail. Mitchell Allwin, 18, from Merlin Court , Canvey , admitted assault causing actual bodily harm by punching victim Sam Rowe and must pay him £350 compensation. Allwin was walking with his dad and sister, 20, when the confrontation erupted, Southend Magistrates' Court heard.

It's claimed police were called to the Bowery Hotel after a fight between the turbulent lovers turned nasty. The Mean Girls star was so infuriated by the barney, she launched "a room-service tray at what she thought was her girlfriend's door".

A race for Hancock town supervisor position developed Tuesday when Salvatore Rubera filed an independent petition to run against incumbent Republican Hancock Supervisor Sam Rowe. Janice Burdick, Delaware County Democratic election commissioner, said 21 independent petitions were filed before the deadline at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Incumbent Republican Sidney Supervisor Joseph Maddalone filed an independent petition to ensure a spot in the November election.

TAYLOR Walker was the difference between Norwood and the Panthers at Coopers Stadium yesterday, spurring on the Redlegs to a 43-point victory. The Crows developing forward nailed seven majors and four behinds - a total of 46 - almost singlehandedly outscoring the bland opposition. Walker's output was solid and commended by both coaches.

The week when Trevor (Hill) left it was very rushed and we had to play a game straight away. The bye in between gave me a couple of weeks to implement some things I wanted to get across and the boys really tried to do that (today)   -Jarrod Cotton
